Shep's money is long, but not as long as Jordan's money!

Shepard just did some posters in conjunction with Upper Deck to celebrate Jordan being inducted into the b-ball hall of fame. The dunk poster is super fresh, the other two are kinda disappointing. The dunk poster is probably the most well known image of his career, I had the original poster hanging on my wall when i was a youngster. There are so many images they could have used that are amazing, but I guess I'm forgetting about the politics of working with Upper Deck and having to select from images they have rights to. Anyway, check out the prices, it's pretty crazy/funny.

"The initial offering consisting of just the high-end, 26” x 36” silk-screened master prints signed by both Jordan and Fairey (limited to 50 versions each) for $4,499.99 collectively. For anyone who purchases the three-part master print series, they will receive the same edition number in the limited-to-50 series for each print (UNC, Bulls and the HOF induction). Additionally, on Sept 17th the three-part sets signed by Fairey-only, which also measure 26” wide x 36” high and are limited to 123 apiece, go on sale for $1,349.99 collectively.

On Sept 22nd, individual versions of the dual-signed master prints will go on sale for $1,499.99 each, with the Fairey-only signed versions also being made available for $499.99 apiece. Lastly, on Tuesday, Sept. 29, an 18” wide x 24” high Fairey-signed print that’s limited to 523 will be made available. Complete sets of the three single-signed, 18″ x 24″ prints will retail for $215.99 each with individual pieces listed for $79.99." Full details here: OBEY GIANT

Do you guys think I'll be able to walk into his studio and get the $15 "Bro Deal" on these posters?

I just re-read and noticed the difference in prices. A master print signed by Shepard is $499.99, a master print signed by Shep and Jordan is $1499.99. Jordan gets $1000 to sign his name?

I just figured out how to get pictures from my phone onto The Beagle

I took these at the Asian Art Museum in SF. I thought they were dope. They also kind of reminded me of something Isaac would make.

Here's that video I was telling you guys about(back when I was ranting about that new camera that I want for Festivus):

Steven Seagal: Lawman

This may be the best show ever made, and it also answers the question of what the fuck Steven Seagal has been up to since Under Siege 2.

Public School Tales

I found this in a closet at work the other day. It was in a pile of black biographies. You know Louis Armstrong, George Washington Carver, that kind of shit. I read the first few pages. They were all about when he lit himself on fire while freebasing which consequently happened on my birthday. There are ads in the back of the book to order other books, books like Pimp: The Story of My Life by Iceberg Slim and Some Like it Dark. There was also an ad to order The Nigger Bible by Robert H deCoy. Why was this book at a school?!

Description of The Nigger Bible:
"This book has been called "the most important book of our generation!" Dick Gregory's preface to The Nigger Bible, says: "Robert H. deCoy is not only one of the literary giants of our time who stretches out to address his own black-kind people, but he has dared to discard the traditional bestiges of Judeo-Chistianity in order to find and reveal the spititual truths of being black. He has dared further to reject the academic forms of Anglo-Saxon writings in orer to establish newer forms of presentations eliminating the pure white "bullshit" which has for so long shackled the spirits and minds of nearly all black people here in America . . . He has given to his people myths and a Genesis, withoutwhich no race of people can offer proof of their existence." The author tackles such questions as, "Why is a Nigger not a Negro?", "Should we integrate or segregate?", "Is Christianity for Niggers?" Islam? Judaism?" "Do Niggers need a God of their own?". "Should Niggers have sex relations with people of other races?", "Is there a Nigger holiday?"

Clean up your trash

Jonny told us about this when we were in San Fran, and it blew my mind...not in a good way, but I do feel this is something worth knowing about. There is a patch of plastic in the ocean roughly twice the size of Texas. The North Pacific Gyre is an area between the US and Japan where ocean currents act as a vortex, accumulating garbage from Japan, China, Alaska, Canada and the U.S which all concentrate into a specific zone of plastic trash the Northern Pacific Ocean.

The blue swirls are all the trash.

Consequently, I am thinking about trying to use less plastic...which is much easier said than done. Not using plastic bags is a great start, but I have come to realize that plastic lurks in places you wouldn't even think; aluminum cans have plastic liners, most food items that are packaged in "paper" like OJ containers are actually coated in plastic as well, not to mention things like toothbrushes and shampoo bottles......This girl from Chicago has got some good ideas, though.
