Tragic (16th & Locust )

I always get upset at cars for not acknowledging cyclists as human beings. This is equally bad. Accidents happen... but no one should abandon a fellow human. I think that this is a sad refletion on the cycling community and if anyone knows anything they should speak up.

On October 15th at approximately 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM a 40 year old paralegal, Andre Steed, was struck by a bicyclist at 16th & Locust Streets and he was very seriously injured. This past weekend, Mr. Steed succumbed to his injuries and passed away. It has been reported that the bicyclist got up from his bike after hitting Mr. Steed, adjusted his handlebars and rode off. He did not stay to assist Mr. Steed or call for an ambulance.

Mr. Steed's employer, Caesar, Rivise, Bernstein, Cohen & Pokotilow Law Firm has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who struck Andre Steed. The Philadelphia Police Department's Accident Investigation Division (AID) is investigating the accident. Please contact Officer Michael Godlewski at AID at (215) 685-3180, 81 or call the Citizen's Crime Commission at (215) 546-Tips (8477) with any information about this case. Nearby businesses are asked to check their surveillance systems for any video that may aid the police in this important investigation.
