REEL TALK

Maysles Edition

The Maysles Brothers, Albert and David, are the kings of documentaries. If you are a fan of this genre and havent seen these films, you are doing yourself an injustice.

1.Gimme Shelter
first off, if you have any interest in the rolling stones, you should have already seen this.
This is a documentary on the infamous Altamont concert of 1969. It has lots of Stones footage, but also tons of hippies, trigger-happy hells angels, naked people, long hair, bad trips, jerry garcia, pool cue bashings and a soccer mom collecting money for the black panthers. Amazing glimpse into a long gone era.

2. Salesman
Be thankful you dont have this job.
This is about door-to-door bible salesmen. Infinitely more interesting than this description suggests.

3. Grey Gardens
Ive said enough about this movie already. legendary. Try and watch it without hitting your jaw on the floor.

A close friend of mine interviewed him. Jump through this hoop and you can read it. Have you watch his Christo films? Those are what hooked me. He spoke at the International House after they showed the whole series.
