Rat King

A couple months ago I read a book called Rats, about rats in new york. It mentioned rat kings but I forgot all about it until I saw a recent post on Boing Boing.

Rat Kings are formed when too many rats are living in a small space. Their tales become intertwined and tangled. They start to shit on each other, and the blood and shit and filth that they live in creates a glue. The rats eventually learn how to cooperate and live together, sort of like Voltron.
