Ireland

For the first time in years I'm getting a tax refund. So I'm buying a ticket to Ireland... I'm going the first week in July, who's coming with me!?! My great grandmother aka "Granny Molly" is going to turn 103 on the 4th of July, so my cousins are going to be around...
Pubes might be in France and my friend Dave might be in London. I was planning on a London stop off or maybe Germany for an F1 race... If your interested hit me with an email! Lets do this!

.....a typical outfit for me in '91

"I used to wear jeans where my naked knees touched" - Andrew P. Warcraft

We just watched the documentary on Steve Rocco, and Jeremy Klein credits Rocco with inventing baggy jeans. Well, we all had them, some were bigger than others, but I STILL HAVE the ones that started it all, OG BLIND jeans. I don't remember buying them, but since we all wore everything huge back then, we could all wear each others clothes. Jason's quote above explains it all, kids were wearing pants so big the crotch was below their knees!

I don't have any 2XL tees at my house, but this is a typical outfit I would have worn in '91. BLIND jeans, striped shirt, and Sal23's. ENJOY!

Public School Tales

I just flew in from San Francisco

and boy are my arms tired! HA!

But anyways for anyone who didn't know I was in Sf from Monday till Thursday. It was a great trip. I hung out with Freshman and Melissa.

The first day I got there at about noon. Melissa and I went out for brunch and then went to work. I headed to the Mission to drink at Dolores Park. Dolores Park is pretty much just a huge grass hill. The day I was there it was 70 and sunny. I had myself some Samuel Smiths and people watched and read.

Met up with Freshman and went to this outdoor biker bar.
And that was pretty much my routine for the three days.
Melissa and I would go out to eat.
I would go out and explore the city.
Freshman would show up and we'd drink.
Day 2: I went to Valencia Street in the Mission.
I bought some records.
Prince crashed on the couch here once and painted the whole place purple.
This was at Shoe Biz. Guy totally ripped off Cory. (in a pretty lame way)
This is Dave Edggers high school tutoring center. Also it's the home of the pirate store.
Went to this little shoppe.

This mural was painted by sixth graders. The people are all people from their community that they interviewed.
Day 3: I walked to the Lower Haight and Upper Haight.
Got my lines tightened up.

Then Freshman got a hold of the camera.

I'm waiting for someone to get this bike tattoed on their chest

I just checked Andrew's website, and he has the "Manipulators" video on there. "Manipulators" is a project he did with Claire Rojas where they would take fashion mags, draw silly stuff or add a bit of social commentary on the ads, and film/animate the process. It's good, you will like it.

THUMB!!!

The Japanese what to say...

I've always wanted a sick super finished garage... The Japanese, as always, have let nerd-ery (not a real word) run a-muck and created "Garage Life" magazine... I saw this mag once a year ago and have been kicking myself for not buying it. I came across another one yesterday in Japan-town and scooped it up... Here's a couple scans... Nonsense:

Blog of the Week

Kira and I are constantly working on wedding details. I honestly had no idea it was this complicated. My advice to everyone not already married is to elope. You'll save time, money and sanity. That is not to say the entire experience is bad, there are some bright spots. The food being one of them... the cake in particular. Everyone wants a nice cake, but where do you go for inspiration?

Cake Wrecks is not that place. No Cake Wrecks, in case you have not figured it out yet, is the place where professional cake go horribly, hilariously wrong.

It is amazing how many different versions of "wrong" there are out there. Cakes with misspellings, cakes with awful colors, cakes that are just downright creepy; the list goes on and on. You need to browse through a few pages yourself to fully experience the absurdity of the cake decorating industry. Who would want a cake that looks like a catfish? However, not all the cakes are bad. Odd? Yes, maybe but you have to admire the artistic ability of some of the cake makers.

So what is the wedding cake going to look like on October 3? Something like this, if I get my way:
