The Sixth Borough Rides Again!

The New York Times breaks some hot news: Fishtown is no longer a dump. In the article Jess McCuan writes, "Young professionals and creative types are moving into renovated apartments and luxury condos." As an aspirant journalist, I have to wonder how hard Jess tried to avoid that language. Creative types? Who talks like that?

Q: Why do you ride a fixed gear?

A: Because it's cool!

This is the 700th post on Regal Beagles

The equally Canadian Michael Cera (he's from Brampton, reprazent!), has decent taste too (though only a 6.9 on the PFM scale) aside from Dr. Dog (gross) and his proclivity for schmaltz (he has also favors Great White North faves like Neil Young, the Unicorns and the under appreciated Jim Guthrie, "Please help me make Guthrie rich," he writes).

Michael Cera's ITunes playlist:
Dion Mcgregor - "Don't Break the Mailman"
Cher & Sonny - "A Cowboy's Work Is Never Done"
Brendan Benson - "Let Me Roll It"
Beulah - "Night Is the Day Turned Inside Out"
Neil Young - "Till the Morning Comes"
Microphones "I'm a Pearl Diver"
Dr. Dog "Ain't It Strange
The Unicorns - "Ghost Mountain"
Jim Guthrie - "Toy Computer"
Dino, Desi and Billy- "Not the Lovin' Kind"
Built To Spill - "Strange"
Louis Prima & Phil Harris - "I Wan'na Be Like You (The Monkey Song)"
The Zombies "Care of Cell"
Daniel Johnston - "The Sun Shines Down On Me"
Weezer - "The Good Life"

I cut - n - pasted from here.

Backpackin' Music

One of the strangest cats in hip hop, and he apparently couldn't sell more than 10 tickets when he played world cafe a few months back, but for some reason I still love this dude. So take a listen to his new track. Found this on pitchfork.

Pooty

Last night I rented the Criterion Collection copy of Pootie Tang. It was amazingly terrible. Every comedian that ever had a comedy central stand-up special is in it, including Andy Richter as Background-Pipe-Smoking-Guy, and Dave Atell as Evil Henchman #2.
BUT....towards the end, David Cross makes a hilarious cameo on an instructional video, wearing blackface, teaching people how to act like Pootie. I cracked up. I tried to find it on youtube but there was just a bunch of videos of wanda sykes dancing.
However, i did find this:

I didnt watch it but i hope its an old drunk guy talking about pumping cooch.

Poop My Ride!

Holler at bitches with your Rims!! This is the tackiest shit ever...

Brittany Parties!!!

She was totally wasted! A bottle of Pepto will get you there!

Ricky Gervais

Ricky Gervais is the creator slash writer of the Office. He has written for The Simpsons, The (American) Office, and yes Extras. He was involved with a documentary called Ricky Gervais meets Larry David. I've never seen it but it sounds amazing. He also has a podcast called The Ricky Gervais show. Here is a story, called Going Mental, that my cousin wrote about The Ricky Gervais show.

PS

Larry David: Vote Obama

In my apartment political chatter is all the chatter. And I suppose it is happening elsewhere. I generally take the position that George W. Bush should be given 16 more years in office. I'm not sure that he realized he could only serve for 8 years. As a result he's got a lot of unfinished business. I know it looks like ineptitude, but really its just long term planning.

But, because we must have a new president, we need to start thinking seriously about who it ought to be. Forget all the speeches because they're just rhetoric. I say go with the person that has the coolest friends. Barack has Larry David on his side, and who is cooler than Larry David?

BOOOOIE

David Bowie on some tv show ive never seen.

IKEA HACKER

This SITE has a bunch of different ways to use Ikea furniture other than there designed purpose. Some really cool ideas, and some dumb ones. Ive been thinking of redecorating so its useful.

Keeping it Real: Proof

My neighborhood is bucking the trend!

"As the citywide murder rate was dropping to its lowest level in decades, murder was on the rise in four neighborhoods here: Brownsville, East New York, Bushwick, and Bedford-Stuyvesant. Together, these adjacent police precincts in northeastern Brooklyn accounted for nearly a fifth of the city’s murders and almost half the borough’s."

One Sentence Summary: Juno

"Not enough George Michael (Michael Cera)."

New in the Blogesphere

It seems like everyone and their mother has a blog these days. Personally I'm more into reading one of my friends' blogs or at least someone I kind of know's blog. So, in that spirit here are two new blogs from friends and people I kind of know.

First, The Shoe Box. This is Snacks' cousin's blog. Nails and Bambi were inspired by the one and only Regal Beagles Crew to start their own blog of nonsense. Their headline reads, "Random thoughts from our feeble minds." So far these two southerners are off to a good start. They have daily updates and plans for weekly themes (we all know how hard themes are to keep up week to week).

Next, my friend Alex from Bad Luxury has started a blog for his T'shirt company. He would probably describe it as a lifestyle blog. So far he's posted pics of sneakers, art, friends and gear. He's posted you tube clips of things that he's into. I don't know it's just another way to waste some time.

Check 'em out.

Not blog meaning blog but blog meaning good!
